Why Become a Member
Membership in the Iowa Section and International ITE will help connect you to Iowa’s community of transportation professionals as well as a global community of professionals. The Iowa Section offers various programs throughout the year for professional development, networking, social activities and community service. Members of the Iowa Section also enjoy special member rates for section events and meetings as well as special registration rates for events held at the district and international levels for ITE. Membership also provides access to technical resources available on the International ITE website and ITE e-Community (click to see a video on the e-community). Membership indeed has its privileges. So join us today as we work to change transportation for tomorrow!

Benefits of ITE Membership (ite.org)
Membership Application
There is no membership application process exclusively for the Iowa Section. Any ITE member in good standing who resides in the Iowa Section’s area is automatically considered a section member.
ITE student members in good standing who reside in the Iowa Section’s area during the school year are also automatically considered student members of the section.
An ITE member residing outside of the Iowa Section’s area may petition the Iowa Section Executive Board for approval to be a section member.
Dues
The Iowa Section ITE membership dues will be collected by International ITE at the time a member pays his or her annual ITE dues. No other means of payment will be accepted except for an ITE member residing outside the Iowa Section’s area who is approved for membership by the Section Executive Board.
For cities, counties, states, provinces, MPO’s, and federal agencies, ITE offers discounted pricing on ITE membership if a minimum of 5 individuals join from the entity.
These entities are taking advantage of the special membership pricing through the Public Agency membership program in the Iowa Section:
- Iowa Department of Transportation
- City of Cedar Rapids
- City of Des Moines
- Federal Highway Administration
For young professionals, who are 23 to 29 years of age have a discounted dues schedule until the reach their 30th birthday that starts at $30 for a year. For more information go to https://www.ite.org/membership/become-a-member/dues/
Student Members
The Iowa Section ITE takes great pride in our student members, and we work with our students to develop their skills so they can succeed as transportation professionals.
In order to become a student member of ITE you must:
- be enrolled as a student in a graduate or undergraduate program at a school of recognized standing; and
- not be otherwise eligible for another grade of membership.
Full-time students can join ITE for FREE as an undergraduate or as a graduate student. That’s for FREE!
There is currently an ITE student chapter at Iowa State University, the Transportation Student Association. For further information and how to join the chapter, please go to the Chapter’s website.
If you want to be a student member, but your school does not yet have an ITE student chapter, you can still join ITE and the Iowa Section as a student member. Go to the International ITE website for information. Join as a Student Member. We are looking to form student chapters at other universities and colleges in Iowa.
