Who we are
Originally chartered as the Iowa Central Chapter in 2013 by the Missouri Valley Section of ITE (MOVITE), we were elevated to be a section on January 1, 2021 when MOVITE was also elevated to become an ITE district, the Missouri Valley District of ITE. The membership area of the Iowa Section includes most of Iowa and the Illinois counties of Rock Island, Henry and Mercer, which are located just east of Bettendorf and Davenport, Iowa and comprise the Quad Cities Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) and the Bi-State Regional Commission. Similarly, the Iowa counties of Harrison, Pottawattamie and Mills, which are a part of the ITE Nebraska Section.
The ITE (aka, Institute of Transportation Engineers) is an international membership association of transportation professionals who work to improve mobility and safety for all transportation system users and help build smart and livable communities. Through its products and services, ITE promotes professional development and career advancement for its members, supports and encourages education, identifies necessary research, develops technical resources including standards and recommended practices, develops public awareness programs, and serves as a conduit for the exchange of professional information.
Founded in 1930, ITE is a global community of transportation professionals including, transportation engineers, transportation planners, consultants, educators, technologists, and researchers. Through meetings, seminars, publications, and a network of over 16,000 members working in more than 75 countries, ITE is your source for expertise, knowledge, and ideas.
